A simple guide to fill Customs Documents

If your shipment requires a Customs declaration, an invoice must be always attached to it.

Choose the type of invoice to fill:
Commercial Invoice for Export
If the shipment is due to a sale operation, it must be exported out of Argentina with an Export invoice type “E”.

Complete Commercial Invoice
Non commercial invoice / Proforma invoice
Other cases, such as personal gift, samples, or defective parts, the shipment may accept a proforma invoice with no commercial purpose.

Packing List (MANDATORY ONLY FOR FORMAL EXPORT)

It is a declaration in letterhead signed by the exporter, mandatory, containing following information:

  • # of Customs Declaration.
  • Exporter´s name.
  • Contents of each piece
  • Type, number and weight of each piece
  • Legend indicating if number of pieces shipped match the number of pieces declared herein, by this formula "Number of units complete Yes - No"..

Type of export declarations for Argentina Customs
Argentina law settles for our internacional shipments two type of declarations, with different features and requirements:

  • Simplified declaration or Courier declaration Resolution ExANA 2436/96, 3236/96, y RG AFIP 1811/95 y 2421/2006
  • Detailed declaration (General Export Import regime) Resolution exANA N° 2437/96 y RG AFIP N° 1921/2005
Informal Export (also courier / simplified export)
Only basic information of the shipment is required, hence the time of processing is express.

By this declaration DHL Express Argentina may process:
  • Shipments weighing less than 50 kg (gross weight)
  • Shipments with value lower than usd 1000 by day (adding value of all shipments of the same sender)
  • Shipments without restriction by type of goods sent (eg goods containing furs of endangered species cannot be sent under this declaration)

Formal Export (also General Import / Export regime or Detailed Declaration)
This export requires the intervention of a Customs Broker, and the sender must be an exporter so registered at Customs.

By this declaration DHL Express Argentina may process:
  • Shipments weighing more than 50 kg (gross weight)
  • Shipments with value higher than usd 1000 by day (adding value of all shipments of the same sender)
  • Shipments restricted for informal export by type of goods sent, given that the special requirements and certificates for the Customs or airlines are fulfilled or provided.
  • Shipments requiring this declaration for other reasons (temporary exports returning to the country, shipments to receive tax refunds, return of shipments imported temporarily, etc…)

Once exported out of Argentina, they are received at the destination airport by DHL Express network, for the transfer to its final destination and door to door delivery (whenever destination country rules allow that)

When the shipment is processed as formal export, please attach the following form with all data complete when DHL picks up your shipment. Also please tell the customer service agent when asking for collection that your shipment is to be handled as formal export.
